Laser skin resurfacing is a procedure commonly used to restore smooth skin that is being affected by wrinkles, acne scars, surgical scars, dullness, large pores, stretch marks or crepiness. The fragile skin under the eye originates from the breakdown of collagen deep inside the dermis, causing the skin to look like thin crepe paper.

While results can be excellent, older, first generation laser resurfacing methods can be very painful and have extended downtime. How it works:

Pixel skin resurfacing is based on the principle of microthermal treatment zones. The laser pulses create tiny ablative (or ‘lasered”) zones in the skin, removing the epidermis and upper dermis with each pulse. Normal, healthy skin adjacent to these zones, creates a reservoir for more effective and rapid tissue healing and collagen production. The untouched skin reaches out to the treated area, speeding healing. The result: new, healthier, smoother tissue overall – even of the non-lasered adjacent areas.

Treatment areas:

Any area of the skin can be treated on which surface irregularities such as: wrinkles, acne scars, and stretch marks may appear. Common areas treated include the face, neck, chest, hands and abdomen.

Number of treatments:

Generally, treatment involves three to six sessions at three to four week intervals. Pixel™ is often bundled with other therapies such as IPL Photo-facials and hydra-facials and chemical peels for optimum results.

What to expect:

There is little or no discomfort during the treatment. Most commonly, clients feel some warmth with the pulse of the laser.
